North Dakota writers unite for a Mid-April workshop
From The North Dakota Department of Commerce
By Lauren Horsch
Writers tend to congregate with other writers. Bouncing ideas off other people just helps the creative process. Heck, it can be intellectually invigorating just to be with eccentric people. The great part about writing is that it can happen anywhere — even in North Dakota.
The North Dakota Department of Commerce is offering a blogging and writing workshop in mid-April . NoDak might not seem like some writing haven for spawning the next great American novel. But picture the landscape. Rolling hills. Fields aplenty. Who needs skyscrapers and cramped apartments when you can be amongst nature? It’s no wonder Chuck Klosterman focused some of his essays and non-fiction work on the state (I’m lookin’ at you “Fargo Rock City”).
The workshop will take place on April 13-14 in Fargo. It’ll focus on writing about “all things ‘North Dakota’” and networking with other writers to further their knowledge of the craft. The workshop will also bring in editors, writers, musicians and freelancers from the Midwest to host sessions and lectures.

The Glorification of Busy
Is “busy” synonymous with “successful”?
No Millennial ever schedules a day “off.” Evenings are filled planning benefit concerts and community meetings. Athletic and networking events take up what used to be known as “weekends.” Emails rerouted to phones demand attention day and night, dread mounting as unread messages reach double digits. It can be all a little overwhelming…
